Martin has been involved in geology and planning work since 1972. Thirteen of those years have been involved as Minerals Officer/County Geologist for Cheshire County Council. In 1989 he set up Industrial Minerals Planning which grew to become The Mineral Planning Group. He was Secretary of the North West Aggregates Working Party (NWAWP) for 10 years and also a founder member of the Silica Sand Working Party.

Martin works out of the Clayton Head Office of MPG. He has wide experience in geology and mineral planning from resource/reserve assessments to Mineral Local Plan production and sieve analysis techniques. Martin has also spent 3 years on the RTPI Minerals, Waste Management and Environmental Protection Panel and 1 year as chairman of the Yorkshire branch of the RTPI.

Tony is an advocate specialising in environmental, local government and information law. He was the Chief Solicitor at Milton Keynes Council and Under Secretary at the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He has been featured in the Legal 500, for his punch at inquiries, and the Directory of Legal Experts. As an advocate he has conducted major public inquiries including the Buckinghamshire Minerals Plan, the Milton Keynes Local Plan and Wales’s first unitary Development Plan.

He was the solicitor in the two leading Court of Appeal mineral cases, including the successful “Earthline 2042” case. He is an after dinner speaker, lectures on planning and local government law and has been a post grad examiner for RICS.

Brian has worked in the planning arena for over 30 years and has gained an in-depth knowledge of the way in which the system functions. His particular strength is in the area of planning legislation and legal issues where his advice to clients on the best most pragmatic route to winning appeals against refusals or enforcement action and the negotiation of planning conditions/S106 Agreements is invaluable.

Jessica studied Geology at the University of Edinburgh and has been with The Mineral Planning Group since 2004. She specializes in producing and coordinating EA/Environmental Statements and Mineral/Waste Planning Applications, Contaminated Land Reports/Desk Studies and carrying out landfill gas, hydrocarbon and water monitoring as well as producing CAD drawings.

Jessica has experience of dealing with a wide variety of mineral planning issues including ROMP applications, condition schemes, legislation & policy considerations, CLEU applications and appeal work. Legal issues (including S106 & S78 agreements).

Paul has been involved in countryside conservation for over thirty years. As the first Heritage Coast officer in the UK he is one of the leading experts in coastal conservation. He has also gained wide experience in this field as South Downs Conservation Officer, Cons. Officer for Ashdown Forest, Interpretation Officer (E. Sussex) and Group Manager - Recreation & Countryside (E. Sussex).

He has an in depth knowledge of matters relating to rights of way. If you have a problem relating to countryside conservation, green tourism or heritage issues contact Paul. He is a trustee and founder member of the UK Coastal Heritage Forum (Coastnet). He has also advised SUSTRANS on countryside matters. He is presently Chairman of the South Downs Planning Committee Paul heads our East Sussex office.

Steve has sound experience in the field of engineering geology including slope stability, rock & soil anchoring, hydrogeological assessment, reserve/resource assessment and the use of computers in engineering geology/hydrogeological modeling. He is presently utilising the recently issued LANDSIM hydro-risk assessment software.

He has also produced a CPD course on the QA of landfill liner construction which Martin was also involved in. He also has wide experience in assessing gold mine and other precious metal, and is presently assessing a prospect in California , USA for one of our clients.

Dave has particularly wide experience in the geology/structural interpretation of metamorphic rock and gold/uranium exploration as well as mine planning and air photo interpretation in metamorphic terrain.

Peter Jones - Structural Engineer

Peter has a broad based background in engineering design, supervision and project management, having worked in contracting, local government and consultancy on a wide range of projects. He specializes in the design of drainage systems and stream/river diversions to full NRA requirements as well as flood risk assessments etc.
